ALT | Happy Monday

Hello Friends. Back home, late last night, from Salt Lake City where I attended Alt Summit. It was such an event-packed whirlwind that I really don’t know where to begin. It was also a first. I create willowday ever so quietly and alone. Before this conference, I could count the people doing what I’m doing on one hand that I knew —- now, I’m returning with so much information, inspiration and honest to goodness, new friends — my Monday’s starting with a bounce in my step and explosion of ideas despite my jet lag.

I’m ever the optimist and had planned to post from the US, last week, but, realized quickly that these would have to wait. If you came by, I hope you were able to peruse prior posts and found some entertainment or inspiration….

Today, I wish you all a happy Monday! I’ll be back all week and just can’t wait to meet you, too.

If I were to try to summarize:

Highlight:

Meeting Minted and Christy Turlington at Everymomcounts. Captivating. Captivated!  Meeting:Garance … (adorable): then, Ben  (of Pinterest – Ben.  Smart. Humble. Love the story behind the name: it was his wife’s idea!)

Lowlight:

Not getting a room at the Grand Hotel which meant running back and forth (questionably, at times) … and staying in wrinkled clothes the final party without my nice party frock when there were so many dressed to their best!

(however: lowlights quickly became highlights: such as running into Rachel of handmade charlotte because I was dashing through the halls with more speed and frequency than most (I’m an even bigger fan now) which lead to …. the dinner that made me decide to stay in street clothes dining at the hotel; which gave conversation that is still ringing in my ears!: Meri of mericherry Susan and William of House of Brinson, Erica of designblahg, Laurie of Great Artist Mom.

Lowlight

Arriving without a feel for the city, infrastructure and pre-booked plans.

Highlight

This is a such a friendly atmosphere that these were not worries and within 5 minutes I had taxi service from Michelle of mylittlebelleville (realizing later that I was a fan of her illustrations) which lead to a dinner surprise attended by Gabrielle of designmom (whom I had the good fortune to meet once before I ever started to blog | here and now contribute to | here) + chance to meet Liz of sayyes and instant new friends from that first dinner! (more here)

The biggest high is simply leaving feeling so inspired and with new friends! Flying back, I had time to think about new ideas for the coming year and talks I had with so many smart, creative people who are doing such amazing things…

Wishing you all a wonderful start of the week! I can’t wait to meet you back here tomorrow!
